My ex-wife has a University degree. She makes sure that you are aware of it at every chance to tell you how smart she is. She's never used her degree for anything in it's field. She has a B.A. which basically means she showed up for 2 years. So hers is a scam because she's a fucking idiot.

I have a Psych BA and here I am. I make way more money doing this than I could in my chosen field. However, it does make a nice adornment for my home office wall.

A persons character should be what we're interested in not the letters after their name. However and from my personal experiences only, anyone with an MBA is a major big asshole

I guess it depends on the person....
In North America we expect 18 years olds to make decisions in education, that are better suited to a 26 year old to make.
I know a few people who nailed it when it comes to a degree and are very successful in their field.
Conversely many I know do not use their degrees but have achieved success.
I attribute this by their willingness to learn.

I hire a lot of people, and I always look for a University degree. Don't care what it's in, really, as long as the person showed the ability to apply themselves for three or four years and actually accomplish the degree. Some degrees are not worth the omney any more: an MBA is a great example. 20 years ago an MBA was a ticket to a great starting salary. Now, everyone has an MBA and it's treated as nothing special in the hiring workforce.
Is it worth getting a degree? Absolutely. Sure, there's a fair number of people who don't have a degree who did really, really well, and that's great. But the vast majority of people without degrees are working low-paying jobs with no real advancement future.

University is not so much what you study, but how you study. Sure, there are examples of people who are hugely successful without university, but then you have to look at the amount of work and sweat and tears they went thru. I don't think that it's a scam. But the amount of money it takes definitely is.

I went through University twice and I think I turned out alright.
Like anything you'll get what you put into it. For most young adults it's their first taste of the real world. You may not end up in the field that you studied (I'm in a related one) but it doesn't mean you wasted your time.

A university education might have helped you type "hire" instead of "higher" and "you're" instead of "your", avoided your bad grammar, and solved your ignorance in claiming a University degree-holder has no real world smarts. But then, we'll never know...DILLIGAF said:
