Made with Love

Help me understand.

@RAWD

You are correct that having MPs vote against it would be the best outcome. Unfortunately it will break with party policy and many are unwilling. Either way you choose to approach it, please contact your MP.

You think our PM will take us seriously?. Doubt if they can help.

OF COURSE THEY CAN!!!!! A simple contact to voice an opinion to your elected Member of Parliment is the first simple necessary step. Given it's now you gentlemen they are targeting I think it is definitely worth a try and certainly can't hurt for everyone to get involved in some way no matter how small it is.

It's a lightening rod issue. No one wants to be seen protecting johns or supporting prostitution. I don't know of any politician who would take a public stand as such.

But, democracy being what it is, we have to make ourselves heard. Otherwise our silence will be construed as acquiescence. Who knows? Maybe letting our MPs know that opposition from the grassroots exists will open their eyes and perhaps at least consider challenging a bad law.

My preference is not to take on prostitution directly, but argue that the bill is wrong-headed. If trafficking is the issue, targeting trafficking, not prostitution.

My other hope is that MPs will realize that prostitution is part of Canadian society. Just ask Harper's old advisor. Maybe they'll have second thoughts about getting themselves, or their buddies into trouble.

Will like to see the outcome of what the PM had to say.

Anyone called yet?.

Then how did the in calls get away from the bylaws?.

There is no bylaw for a SP as they are not licensed

Prostitution itself is not a criminal act either

Somehow, I believe the point should be made that without relatively convenient, safe, consentual, discrete sexual outlets for people, sure mostly men, there will be an unknown increase in violent acts that will stem from the pent up frustration. No question in my mind.
I wish the grandstanding political "do gooders' of the world would stop forcing their hypocritical and often occult perverted sexual views on society and focus on the real issues that cause hardship; Lack of skills and education, drug addiction, human trafficing, child abuse and hunger.

It isn't?. Then what do they get charged for?.

That's correct. Selling sex is not illegal. You can get charged for running or being found in a place that is used for the sale of sex (bawdy house), living off the avails of selling sex (pimping), communicating in a public place for the sale of sex, etc.

That's why incalls (and high mileage MPs) are riskier than outcalls for customers. We run the risk of being caught up in a raid and charged as "found ins" at a bawdy house. (The other criminal charges don't really apply to customers.)

It's been discussed elsewhere before but worth mentioning again:

1. If you're worried about safety, stick to the top spas that are well run and know the rules. Avoid the sketchy spas that arent properly licensed and dont care whether they are busted.

2. If you do get caught up and are charged as a found-in, STFU. LE or the crown may lean on you to testify on what happened in the spa (to help prove their case). They will tempt you with pleading out or some offer. Talk to your lawyer before you yap. if they can't prove the bawdy house charge, your found-in charge is moot. Don't help them.

Great advice.

If memory serves, there was a bust in York region last Fall about a month after the Bedford decision was released.

Great thread with lots of infos. Just bumped it up to top page for those who missed out. We need more participation on this board. Lots of lurkers here but not many contributors. JMHO.
