North Shore students have been banned from hugging during school hours because too many of them - mainly girls - were consistently arriving late to their classes.

Schools reasonably ban cigarettes, drugs and violence — but hugging? Students are not embracing Chase Middle School's hugging ban.

The Forest City, N.C. school's administrators said they will not tolerate consensual light embraces between friends. Hugs, they maintain, are not appropriate school behavior.
This stance came to light after a frightening seizure sent eighth-grader Parker Jackson to the hospital in an ambulance.

COPS’ ‘HUG THUG’ DILEMMA: HUGGING STRANGERS IS STRANGE, BUT NOT ILLEGAL

His classmates welcomed him back with many hugs the following day, reported Fox Carolina. But the administration would not stand for those public displays of affection.

The school, Adam Road Primary School in Western Australia, said it introduced the ban because hugging at the school was "out of control with students hugging each other several times a day".

The guilty student, Amber Ablett, received a recess detention after hugging her friend. This prompted an angry response from her mother, Heidi Rome, who said she was "dumbfounded" by the decision and wrote to the local newspaper to complain.

"It's not so much the detention – it's the fact there is this rule and the psychological implications it could have," Ms Rome said.

"I don't usually bring forward complaints like this and I do like the school. It's not about slandering their name – it's about this silly rule."

The acting principal, Gemma Preston, said the rule was introduced last year after injuries and bruises caused by "overenthusiastic" hugs.

A South West primary school has banned pupils from hugging each other, imposing a detention on a 12-year-old girl for giving her friend a goodbye hug at the end of the school day.

Parent Heidi Rome said she was concerned that her Year 6 daughter, Amber, was given such a harsh punishment after Adam Road Primary School acting principal Gemma Preston witnessed the friendly hug.

The Bunbury school said it had brought in the ban late last year because boys and girls were hugging each other inappropriately.
Some students had also been running across the schoolyard and bumping into each other.

Ms Rome said the school should teach those students how to behave appropriately, instead of banning hugs altogether.
“Also siblings are not allowed to hug each other,” she said.

“So how can you explain to a five-year-old that they can’t hug their older brother or sister?”

Politically correct idiots..... banning kids from remembering our war veterans who gave their lives so we could enjoy our freedoms, trashing christmas but promoting other religious beliefs....

Sorry, can we hit the rewind button and go back to a time when our past was respected instead of frowned upon?

When a good smack on your kids ass to teach them to behave or a Teacher being able to discipline his students. I can go on and on.
