Do you include yourself in that?
After all, if you have a home, drive on roads, eat foods from farms or do just about anything else, you're a contributor. If you commute to work, then you have some responsibility for the miles of roads that crisscross the planet allowing people to get from home to work and shopping. Have a home? How much of an area had to be cleared of plants/trees for it to be built? You eat, chances are you didn't grow it all yourself. If it came from a farm, think of all of the area cleared for that. Humans have an impact on nature no matter what unless they are living as primitive hunter/gatherers.
Global warming/climate change is happening (you can blame humans, you can accept that it could be solar as Mars has increased temps just as much as Earth has over the same time period). That's going to cause some species to die out and other new ones to evolve to take advantage of the newly opened niches. People exist and are growing in population....that means that we are going to change the environment as well by building all of the stuff we need...roads, buildings, parking lots, etc. That also means that some species are going to die out and others will evolve to take their place.
But human building isn't always a bad thing. Look at how the caribou numbers increased after the installation of oil pipelines. The warmth coming off the pipelines allowed the area along it to stay snow free longer, which means plants could live longer which means more food for the caribou. Their population numbers skyrocketed. In the great lakes, the accidental introduction of Zebra Mussels helped to clear the water which allowed the fisheries to improve...but possibly at the cost of lake clams and other organisms. Everything we touch is going to change, though it may not always be bad.
But can we control it? Should we kill half the population of the Earth in order to reduce the pressure on the environment? Are you going to commit suicide to help out mother nature? Will you impose it on others? Things are changing, species come and go, but we don't know what is bad or what is good when it comes to those things. Life has come back from many extinction episodes throughout time and will probably do so again this time....no matter what we do.
