@Prick: I've been spending most of the past 24 hours uploading new shit to my YouTube account. I think I can bypass some of the restrictions that YouTube places on videos that can be accessed by the general public.
I couldn't care less if the general public can't see them. They have plenty of other things to watch. Some people here might like to see some videos that YouTube doesn't have, but I do.
I don't mean porn, and things like that, it's mostly music videos and cartoons, or things from SNL I'd be putting up. The rights holders just don't have an agreement with YouTube, and most people don't get their video anywhere else these days.
I think I can get them into my channel, and link them from my channel to this forum. Some music, in particular, can't be heard on YouTube; you can see the image, but the sound is muted.
There's one funny commercial for MTV that was blocked, just because the title is Pink Panties.
I did manage to upload a funny clip called Porno Blonde, that I got back in the day on a site called Punchbaby.
Before YouTube, sites like that would post one video every few days, and often in shitty formats like .asf and .wmv, or tv shows that a guy recorded by holding his phone in front of the tv set in his home, and every so often, the cat would walk in front of the screen. That's what it was like, more than ten years ago, when people still had attention spans of longer than 48 characters in text.
I'm doing a bit of experimenting, and I'll try to post a huge batch of them, sometime in the next few days. I don't know if it will work, but I have my fingers crossed. If it does work, I'll make a video request thread, in addition to my pirate channel on here.
I don't know if I can find a way to upload videos longer than about 17 minutes, but that's one of the tests I'm going to try. Unfortunately, if it doesn't work, I have to wait about an hour to find out, or longer than an hour, if I'm using other browser windows at the same time. Watching YouTube and uploading to YouTube at the same time slows them both down.
Apparently, 'that cartoon' was allowed to be posted, after all, because it's still up, and I'm still here.
