• The owner of the Deep Cove Chalet restaurant on Vancouver Island told local media that royal staff had tried to make a booking.
• But Bev Koffel said they turned it down because the security would have been too much to handle.
• She wished the royals a pleasant stay all the same, and said they had been seen jogging in a nearby town.

I don't get it either. They don't really need more security as they would have their own as the Royals.

But to each their own. They still get their name out there but not necessarily in the best light.

Perhaps the owner just does not want the publicity at this time.
After all it is her business and she has to live with the decision.
She is undoubtedly going to get a surge in business just by turning them away.
People will now go just to see what the hooplah is about.
or maybe the restaurant is a just a money laundering set up for the mob. LOL and the food is really lousy.

I remember when Barry Obummer went to DUFF'S by the Airport during his 2012 Campaign.
It made the national news and gave maybe a 1% uptick in sales for like a week.

I damned near went there for lunch that day......Glad I did not....I was able to keep my lunch down by not going.
