This is a tough choice, but I'll say to give love is better.

You don't need to be a parent to know love, having a pet can bring out the feelings that are just as strong.

Tough call....
I love love, but I also love being loved. So I would probably hate not being loved if I could only love, but I'm sure I would love loving my loved ones even more that I already love them. But if they couldn't love me because I could only love them, they wouldn't love THAT very much at all. If by loving them, they could not love loving me, which is something they love to do, they wouldn't be happy at all.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I would love to love the ones I love only if they could do the things they love, which is show me the love.
