I was offered a free holiday and shopping spree in whatever destination I choose from a manager.
Any advice on the pros and cons of accepting or declining would be appreciated. I want to but I'm hesitant because the relationship would change at least in his eyes but declining may also have repercussions.

Did you happen to win "Top Salesperson of the Quarter"? If so, congrats and enjoy.

Otherwise, bad idea.

Yeah I know but if I say no he will surely get offended and cause me grief. I'm thinking at least going I'll have a little fun but refusing I'll probably have to look for a new job.

Personal opinion is you can cause him larger problems.

Just use your smart phone to record him then use the leverage for a promotion or he faces sexual harassment, unless of course you like him or he graciously takes no for an answer.

I agree with Papa, DB and Maurice and unless it's some type of bonus for a job well done do not accept it. He and I'm assuming is a he has no right as a manager to mix pleasure with business and can be taken to task for it.

Mel, simply based on the fact you posted and encouraged others to post some very racy pictures online leads me to believe you probably enticed this gentleman in some way. Lead him to believe he had a chance at a little more than professionalism at the office.

even if that was the case and I doubt it was. Does it justify his proposal?

Baz, do not lose sight of right and wrong by justifying wrongs.

Would it not depend on to what extent the flirtation was extended to as to justify his proposal? Imagine an attractive co-worker at your place of employment revealed to you some very revealing images on her smart device, would you not believe she had some interest in you and proceed to make an approach?

Actually Baz no, I understand the need for professionalism.

Most people have lives outside of work and for the most part those lives are kept away from work.

I agree and I do not understand why anyone would get involved in an office romance. I could be totally off the mark here and Melanie may have been completely professional in her dealings with this individual and if this is the case he deserves to be released immediately. Yet I see Melanie is a very flirtatious young lady which cannot be denied. If this flirtatious behavior extends into the office, then I can see why someone may get the wrong idea. Perhaps I'm wrong for stating the obvious but I don't feel staying silent is helpful in many situations.

Myself I will give her the benefit of the doubt.
After all it is not our place to jump to conclusions.

They did that in Salem in the 1600's and look what came of that.

Also might I remind you of John 8:7?

I don't believe I'm throwing stones, I'm merely hoping to get through to a very nice person who seems troubled at her current situation. In speaking up, hopefully if and only if she lead him on, perhaps in the future this behavior would be reigned in. I do have to run, hopefully we can continue this debate when we have more details from the young lady.

Stay safe out there
