infrared heaters

Spent the past couple hours researching, which has left me more confused than ever. I want to give one as a gift, so I'm wondering if anyone here has any tips, info, from using a particular brand, since there are so many. Thanks in advance

That was one of the sites I had looked at, then researched all of them, all have as many bad reviews as good, that why I was looking for personal input/experience with any

I bought the one sold at Home Hardware a couple years ago. Hated it! It wouldn't even efficiently warm up the space in a tiny room let alone the space t claimed it was meant for. Returned it and went out and bought a small chubby ceramic heater that is still kicking ass.

Mine is SUPER crap and I couldnt return it as I didnt have the receipt.

@Amy-thanks, do you find it uses more electricity, or do you notice any difference @Jasper-it's for my mom, who is in her late 70's, so she isn't into to many sexy gifts, plus she is ultra frugal, hence the interest in these heaters, they're supposed to save on electricity @Prick-yup..... still thanks for wondering,lolEACE: @Analme-gotta agree with your sentiments

I find most IR heaters are pretty inefficient. Try some of the better review sites like Consumer Reports...

I have two ceramic heaters and they serve me quite nicely. If it's a gift, you can get ones that look like little fireplaces, complete with fake fire when you turn it on.

I've never had an issue returning products without a receipt at either Walmart or Canadian Tire.

cristy, it didn't matter to me about the electricity used since it didn't actually do its job. I wouldn't be able to tell you anyway as it was in my house for 2 days.
