An American scientist who collaborates with the Wuhan Institute of Virology had his grant terminated in the wake of unsubstantiated claims that COVID-19 is either manmade or leaked out of a Chinese government lab.

Trump has been pushing the "China produced the virus in a lab" scenario, but when he found out the scientist was working with the Chinese, that's what prompted him to cut the funding.
Sorry for demeaning some body else's top dog, and considering I was an on again off again fan of Trump, but he has been stating absolute nonsense for quite a while now.
It actually seems he knows that he is going to be out, and so doesn't give a shit what he states in public or in media.

Not convinced Trump will be beaten in the fall. Joe Biden is no one's idea of 'the best choice to lead'. If anything, he seems like the best choice to be easily manipulated in to doing what the power brokers around him want to do. If they market him as the lesser of two evils, I think Biden loses.
