He must have made someone very angry at him. lol

Was on vacation with the wife and kids...

Just got back yesterday. Had a great time.

3 canoe trips, tubing Elora Gorge, waterpark, gocarts, lots of bike rides, BBQ's and camp fires... oh, and I also met !

Oh and I know that pic was posted in the spirit of humour, but you should know that it was truly a tragic event. 1 cyclist lost his life, & several others were critically injured, when a drunk driver- (likely not Ray since everyone knows he rides a tricycle ever since the breathalyzer thing was attached to his ignition...), broke through some barriers of a closed ride somewhere in Mexico if memory serves...

Actually the judge allwowed him to drive this tiny electric car, so long as he keeps his speed under 10 km/h

It has just enough room for Ray, a stripper on his lap and a case of beer

He'd need a roof rack for the beer.

To get an idea how small this P50 is, I saw a british car show where the host drove this car into an elevator and down the isles in his office to go to meeting with his bosses at the BBC. Oh, it doesn't have a 'reverse. You just pick up the back end and spin it.

You got to meet your alter ego CG?

Would like to hear about that one. Don't leave out any details.

The Ride with Lance is an annual fund raiser for the Kitchener- Grand River Hospital and also heavily sponsored by "Mr. Blackberry" from RIM. Unfortunately for me there is an registration fee of $1500 (which isn't an issue), but you must also come up with $20,000 in pledges/ donations to GRH, in order to participate in the ride.

So, I just happen to know one of the organizers, so he put me on the guest list.... :) So bright and early, Saturday morning, Mrs. CG & I head out to the private "send off" for the ride. I was wearing my Livestrong Jersey under my Livestrong jacket and had a sharpie in my pocket hoping to get some signatures. (Phil Liggett, George Hincapie and Steven Bauer were also in attendance at this function.) Well as luck would have it, I had the prime opportunity after the speeches to say hello to Lance, I just walked up to him and he said "Love the shirt", to which I replied, "(chuckle) Yes, I'm a big fan! Would you please sign it for me?" He said sure, and I handed him the sharpie... While he was signing, he asked if I was riding today. I explained that I would not be so honoured, and he said "Too bad- always love to meet fans who share a common goal, maybe next time." He then asked about my Livestrong wrist band... "I never take it off- not even for sex!" He chuckled and said "How does your wife feel about that?" I replied "Not a problem, she's a fan too! (motioning towards Mrs. CG) I guess the wrist band helps visualize her fantasy!" He LOL! I also explained that I was sorry about his bad luck during stage 8, and was really pulling for his 23rd stage win (overall) during the 16th stage at this year's Tour...

I then got George, Steven and Phil's signatures as well... and got my spare Jersey signed at the first rest stop!

Some pics... (because this thread would be useless without them!)

Phil (The voice of the Tour de France) and Lance during the preliminary speeches:

The first jersey signatures: Lance, George, Phil & Steve...

The second jersey w/ just Lance's signature. (I also got a pic of him signing it while my son was wearing it, but that pic won't be posted for obvious reasons...)

My one regret was that I didn't get a pic of Lance & I... Mrs. CG accidentally touched the auto focus button as I handed her the camera and all I got was a big blur! :grrrrrr: (I really need to teach Mrs. CG how to use my camera! LOL)

I'd have to say Tour de France cyclists are some of the best (if not the best) athletes in the world.
That course is literally gruelling!!! Especially in the mountains

I agree...

3500 kms up and down mountains in 20 days!

The New York Times said the "Tour de France is arguably the most physiologically demanding of athletic events." The effort was compared to "running a marathon several days a week for nearly three weeks", while the total elevation of the climbs was compared to "climbing three Everests."

Yes, I think that counts as literally grueling!

Great story about your meeting.

Too bad the pic didn't turn out with you and Mrs.CG and the legend. You have some great patience I would have rung my wife's neck.

Maybe that's why I'm single.

In her defense, it could also have been one of my fingers that touched the autofocus button as I handed her the camera. The difference being, I would have noticed the problem immediately whereas she wouldn't, since she is not that familiar with its use and operation. Disappointing yes, but I have lots of other great pics and 2 jerseys and the guest passes as proof of my memory. (And what she may lack in picture taking skills, she more than makes up for in other ways... )

Just ordered a couple of these to preserve and display my new prize possessions as well... :)
