I solved my sock issues but only buying white socks and wearing Western Boots for dress shoes.

That is on a fixed wing...Where the forward movement of the wing causes a pressure difference, thus providing lift.

A Square Rigged Ship while is extremely efficient downwind, becomes a whole other animal going up wind.

Our more modern GAFF RIG allows for better up wind performance....The Bernoulli Principle of lift applies to both types of rigging........
