With Canadian laws on prostitution struck down, and currently in limbo, strip club owners want the federal government to let them operate brothels. Earlier this year, American brothel owner Dennis Hof (shown) said he'd like to open brothels in four Canadian cities.

Strip club owners in Canada say they are looking to include brothels in their operations.

The idea is being pushed due to a Supreme Court ruling in December that unanimously struck down three important segments of Canada’s prostitution laws: laws that prohibit the operation of brothels, living off of the avails of prostitution, and communicating for the purpose of prostitution in public.

The case was argued successfully by three former and current sex-trade workers who said the laws violated their rights to a safe working environment.
The court ruling gave the federal government until December to address the situation. Although the current laws remain in place until then, many police forces have said they will not be persuing convictions until the situation is clarified.

Meanwhile the Adult Entertainment Association of Canada (AEAC) announced this week that it will be conducting a study into allowing strip clubs in Toronto and surrounding region about providing “enhanced services” in separated areas in the bars.

Many Ontario strip club owners met this week and agreed to approach the federal government about allowing them to expand operations to include brothels.

They have support from a Toronto City Councillor, Giorgio Mamoliti, who has argued that legal, licensed, and inspected operations are safer for all than the many illegal operations that exist

Strip club owners aren't known for their health and safety concerns or their respect for the community around them.
:blush2:
This type of story is why MacKay's fear agenda has been successful.

Happy to see the clubs make this pitch. An association of legal businesses urging regulation and taxation and hitting the Tories with the $$$ signs they worship.

Doubt I'd be a client. Long ago graduated from strip clubs to SPs and prefer the intimacy of a hotel room or condo.

But if strip clubs win the right to operate brothels, then you can count on other parts of C-36 biting the dirt too.

More power to great indies and agencies.

I doubt they would even consider it. Aren't most clubs ran by H.A. or the underground?

Many strip clubs in BC are owned by people associated with organized crime so I can't imagine them be allowed to operate legal brothels.

Prices would likely skyrocket, at the brothels outside Vegas girls wanted crazy money. I regretted even bothering to drive out there.

It would be an interesting dynamic.
Assuming rates don't change from current norms, who would opt for dances when there is so much more available, at the same place?
