It will never happen.....not in my lifetime. Not until the US federal government caves into the wishes of its citizens and legalizes it. The last time this issue came up it was strongly advised (by the US) that Canada NOT legalize pot and of course our goverment did what was asked.....

Not only would they garner millions (if not billions) in tax revenue they'd save trillions on law enforcement and millions more on housing and caring for thousands of people behind bars for pot possession.

In addition, they'd save millions of court cases from going to trial....

However, since when does our government do what the people want? I have yet to see any elected government do that.......

Stephen Harper should go back to his libertarian anti-government roots and legalize it, he'll get support from many in his caucus and he can tell the rest to just chill out.

true, but I think ford is just a little too far out there....but he IS indicative of what the people want: someone who isn't a politician in office.....unfortunately our political system doesn't allow for this on a provincial or national level.....

I disagree, a good politician knows how to get things done - it's a skill to work through a process and to get agreements. It doesn't have to involve gravy or corruption, that's Ford talk that panders to the cynical.
