My understanding was that this so called tradition is done by a very small portion of the Jewish population (i.e. less than 2%) that is extremely religious (not all religious Jews follow this practice).

I understood the tradition to be to suck the blood out of the circumcised part (after it is cut off).

I am one that is anti-cicumcisin though - it seems barbaric. However it is a difficult to balance between freedom of religion and individual rights and most politicians won't go near the issue.

Trust me on this, get the boys foreskin snipped at birth!!! I had to get cut in Sept 2012 at 44 years old and it wasn't the highlight of my year or life!
