Personally for me, when one advocates for censorship or a member attacks or behaves as entitled.

Of course, it is supposed to be fun, educational or interesting. If it s serious, keep an open mind about it.

Some boards go after newbies like piranha going after goldfish, so I used to be afraid of not being accepted, and afraid of being attacked (much like in real life situations). I think I lurked as a non-member on my first board for a year before I joined, then lurked for another year before I finally started to participate. I lurked for 5 years on the red board before I got up the courage to post there.

Sometimes when long time posters show too much familiarity with each other, it can feel a little intimidating to new members and they might feel like they are breaking into a clique. It took me a while before I felt comfortable posting in the lobby. All the inside jokes back and forth and all that. These days, I take it all in stride, but back then, it felt little weird.

I know what you mean, I felt the same way when I first started posting here. I don't know what we can do about that though.

I read the Lobby for months without understanding half of what was being posted, then one day I turned on the option to show avatars, and I realized that many members were referring to the characters in their avatars and it started to make sense.
