A Houston man whose SUV was stolen with his five-year-old child inside helped police find it by using a Find My iPhone feature.
ABC News is reporting that the man had left the SUV running and his young son inside it while he ran into a Houston liquor store Monday night (video below). When he came out, the vehicle was gone.
A male suspect had jumped into the vehicle and driven off, not realizing there was a child in the backseat.
The panicked father had an iPad and was able to use its Find My Phone feature to track the iPhone he’d left in the car, police said.
Police stopped the SUV 15 minutes later and reunited the child, who was unharmed, with his father. An officer described the reunion as “tearful.”
The suspect was arrested and faces theft charges and possibly kidnap charges as well.
