[h=5]"A shout-out to my Dad, Teddy (1923-1999) as we remember all members of our armed forces this Memorial Weekend. Memorial Day is a day to remember those who died in service, but just yesterday as I was driving with my mom and listening to tunes from her era, the song "Sentimental Journey" came on the radio and she said this song always reminded her of my father. As a WWII pilot, he was leaving on a bombing mission and that song was playing and he told my mother later that he thought at the time if he didn't make it that it was such an appropriate last song for him to hear. He survived and lived for many more years (but never set foot on a plane again) but my heart goes out to all the families who have lost loved ones while they so bravely fought to protect us and our country. Whether they were members of "The Greatest Generation" from WWII, or any of the wars before or after, they are true heroes and I thank them from the bottom of my heart. I love you and miss you dad. My Dad. My Idol. My Hero."
