I never got that, men who were ashamed or ?? about a woman earning more money than them.....that's the purest definition of insecurity.....I dated a woman who had a better job than I and the only issue I had with it was if we took it to the next level, she didn't want to pool the resources in order to bring equality to the relationship.
For example, she didn't own a car, but I did and had a loan on it. I had a large boat and owed money on it. If we lived together or got married, she didn't think we should both put in a share to pay off the loan etc even though she made use of both.
I said it would never work then because I'd be broke all the time and it would cause issues with purchases for a home, or the home itself, vacations etc. I could only afford a small one bedroom apartment and she could afford a 2000 sq ft house. I could only afford to go to wasaga beach for a weekend and she could afford a holiday in bali.
I said we should look at our various contributions based on earnings. Since she made twice as much as I did, we should pool our debts/assets and pay a proportionate amount. She was adamant that that wouldn't happen. I said ok fine, this relationship can go no further then.....(and it did end less than a year later and yeah, we did live together for a year or so).
