Thinking of marrying a woman with 3 kids. Dated her for a year now and enjoy her company. Two boys 10 and 12 and 15 year old girl. We get along fine but can see jealousy part from the 12 year old. She is self employed and makes a good living. I also do well.

Just asking for the experienced ones here for any ins and outs. Been single all my life, in my 40's and the first time I have ever thought about getting married.

remember you are neither their father or friend but you can be a mentor.

Have you tried living together first....

But if you love her and the kids why not......

Been staying over on weekends the last few months.

Remember that women at 40 cannot bear Children anymore. We can shoot those boys till late sixties.

If you really like her (not just the sex) then go for it. I assume this is not your first serious relationship. If you have had less than five - I would not marry her yet. Some marriages work out - others do not. It may be worth the risk.

She is financially independent and her kids are older so low risk of significant support if the marriage does not work out.

Perhaps take it slow - see if she would be interested in living together for a year.

Don't think just do it. If you both respect each other then the Children will benefit.

Good luck.

I would say go for it. You'll be surprised how quickly a family can adjust and accept. If you treat the kids with respect and respect their mother they will respect you too. It may not be perfect at the beginning but they will adapt.

+1 Overthinking will simply create problems where there may not have been any before. The relationship will have its hurdles but then, every relationship does. Good luck and Congrats :)

Listen to the smart woman.

It comes down to respect with the kids. If they can accept you, not so much as a "father" but as their mother's mate, then that's better. Don't buy their friendship and respect, just let it come, and things will be fine. I ended up with a teenage kid that way. First real talk with him I simply said "I'm not your dad, but I will help and support you; call me what you wish, and try to make your mom happy and we'll be fine".
