not knowing the legal system, i thought a bail hearing was mandatory prior to releasing anyone out on bail? Else, how would one go about getting out on bail? I mean, unless someone arbitrarily decides....like, if you're a gang banger, ok, you? $200.00....a gun runner? oh, i dunno, $431.12.......

I mean seriously, weren't those two punks who killed a cabbie while racing their parents bmw and merc released on their own recognazance and they KILLED a cabbie? oh wait, i get it, it's ok to KILL a cabbie but if a cabbie does anything wrong himself, that's another story......

It was a really bad situation for the taxi driver, but he was in his car and could have driven away without running over the guy. It seems like it was an act of revenge rather that self defense, so I agree with him being charged. The other guys attacking the cab should also be charged as well.

I agree he could of easily driven away. Staying allowed for the escalation of violence and although my gut reaction say YES the punk deserved it, if you sit back it shows the cabby had the time to drive away.

I'm not sure about that....the cab driver was being attacked everywhere. I wonder if he actually saw the person he ran over while the attackers were yelling, jumping and distracting him. I am sure the moment he felt a huge bump while driving away, he knew he ran over someone.

Again, we still dont know the full information about this nasty awful incident but you have all these people attacking you.....I dont know. What happened to those old days when its only 1 vs 1. Now you see more of a gang of "coward" people attacking on an individual. Lame....better stick to hugging!

Update: he had a bail hearing today and the judge admonished the police and the prosecutor for making him stay in jail for 4 days........(heard this on the radio while driving home)
