Mosque demands neighboring brewery’s liquor license be revoked

A north-end Halifax Islamic centre is calling for the immediate cancellation of their next-door neighbour’s liquor licence for what they call a “frontal attack to our way of life.”
The Centre for Islamic Development and the Ishan Academy issued a formal complaint against their Robie Street neighbours, the Good Robot Brewing Company, to the Nova Scotia Alcohol, Gaming, Fuel, Tobacco Division on Sept. 28.
The facility is calling for Good Robot’s licence to be revoked under section 29 of the Liquor Licensing Regulations which allows for someone to ask in writing to have a liquor licence cancelled or limited based on the establishment “interfering with the quiet enjoyment of neighbouring properties.”
John MacDonald, executive director of the Nova Scotia Alcohol, Gaming, Fuel, Tobacco Division of Access Nova Scotia, referred the matter to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board on Oct. 12. The board has not yet issued directions on the matter.

I have to agree with you. Plus they are basing the complaint on the Right to Peaceful Enjoyment........Not on religious objections.

A row has broken out between Catholic cardinals over plans to open a McDonald’s next to the Vatican in Rome.

The plans for the fast food chain in a piazza to the right of the iconic St Peter’s Basilica has caused outrage among cardinals living above the proposed restaurant site. The Pope has received a letter from one angry cardinal asking the religious leader to intervene in stopping the plan, it has been reported.

It was revealed earlier this year the APSA, the part of the Church which looks after the Vatican’s assets, had agreed to rent part of the building to McDonalds. The Vatican would receive 30,000 Euros, or around £27,000, a month in the proposed deal.

Since recorded history, man has looked to a higher power. Be it PEGAN, JEW, CHRISTIAN or Islam. They have surrendered to the idea of something better then themselves. However in this case it comes down to a question of Peaceful Enjoyment. They have a case.
