@ Cristy: At a Boston Gardens gig in early 1977, on tour with Queen, several young ladies in the front row were making it known that they were hot for Thin Lizzy bassist and lead singer Phil Lynott. Phil picked up on this, and said "Do any of you ladies have a little Irish in you?", and they all cheered. Phil then said "Would you like a little more?".
Of note is that, for that gig, and perhaps one other on that tour, (Queen was touring in support of the 'A Day at the Races' album, Queen was the opening act, rather than the headliners, because Thin Lizzy was from Ireland, and a very 'heterosexual' band, which meant more in Beantown than in many other cities at the time.
I saw that tour. Queen was at the top of their game, in terms of material and performance, but they lacked spontaneity. One had the impression that every show on the tour was virtually identical, like most concerts today. Thin Lizzy sold a lot fewer albums, but few bands ever compared to them, in concert.
Regular co-lead guitarist Brian Robertson sat out that tour, because he had broken his hand in a bar fight, so he was replaced by former member Gary Moore.
The information about that Boston gig is from Trouser Press magazine, issue #16, I believe, with the Thin Lizzy cover. I only had one Thin Lizzy album as a teenager, "Jailbreak", but I played it a lot, very loud, with headphones.
