I'm surprised to learn about this incident on national TV this morning instead of finding it here last week. Would have stuck it in the topless thread, but figured Lori Welbourne deserves a little bit more attention. My kind of reporter.

Newspaper columnist goes topless in interview with Kelowna mayor
Lori Welbourne strips down halfway through conversation with Walter Gray
A B.C. newspaper columnist and radio host was chatting with the mayor of Kelowna when she did something unexpected. Halfway through her interview, she undid the strap on her dress and bared her chest — then continued the interview.
Lori Welbourne, who writes a column for the Province newspaper, was asking Kelowna Mayor Walter Gray about whether a woman going topless in public would be arrested, in anticipation of Sunday’s Go Topless Day. About halfway through her questions, however, Welbourne handed the microphone to the mayor and .
Toplessness is not illegal in Canada unless it’s deemed to be indecent. Gray told Welbourne that although many people would be tempted to call the police if they saw a topless woman, there would be little the police could do.
“So I can go topless here in Kelowna?” Welbourne asked the visibly uncomfortable mayor.
“Well, evidently,” said Gray. “I’m not suggesting you should do that but I don’t think you’d be committing any crime or breaking any bylaw.”
Aug. 25 is Go Topless Day in cities across North America. The annual celebration of “topfreedom” was started in 2007 by an American organization fighting for the equal rights of men and women to be topless in public, with events also taking place in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.
