I see some of this in my back yard, although the spiders don't appear to be that big.
When I lived on a farm in south Ont. though, I did find a spider that could put marks in a pencil with its pincer, could see what appeared to be muscle in its legs.
And of coarse lots of the quite large "banana" spiders, but for some reason they didn't look as scary, unless of coarse when you unknowingly walked through their web in the bush, and found one crawling up your bare arm.
