Need a mechanic's advice.

There is a red light that flashes once every day saying you are low on break fluid-oif. One mechanic tells me don't add and bread fluid on your own, you may damage the car. It means your breaks are worned out and you probably need to replace them.

Another mechanic tells me, yes add a little fluid but don't fill it after the line.

With Google I get different answers.

Anyone here can advice?.

Add the brake fluid but also pull the wheels off and check the condition of your pads. As pads wear, the piston on the brake caliper moves out, meaning it creates more space for fluid thus depleting the fluid supply you have in your reservoir.

It doesn't sound like your mechanical, so take it to a professional shop to have it checked out before you need a body shop and ambulance.

Two things will cause you to be low on brake fluid. A leak in the line or in the brake cylinder or worn brakes. As the brakes wear more fluid from the resevoir will go to the cylinder.
By all means fill the resevoir to the fill line but get your brakes checked. Not being able to stop on a dime could cost you 50cents.
Fuggenstien may have given you the same answer but I can not read his posts. Sorry if this is a repeat.

Thanks for the advice gentlemen. Have booked an early appointment for tomorrow morning, yes they are open till noon. The thing is that the red light warning hasn't flashed in three days.

What does that mean?.

I'm going to have to pass this info on to my sister. Her check engine light has been on for months, so I'll tell her to wait until the light goes out, then she'll know the problem no longer exists.
