Good point but what is the alternative option?.



the method they chose caused alot of water pollution with soil contaminating the water. that could of endangered alot of marine life. i would like to of seen them use a solution that did not pollute the water

Anything they did would have changed the local ecosystem so I wouldn't worry about a little runoff in a localized area. Hell, the nutrients that made it to that section of beach probably increased biological productivity.

Had they used heavy equipment....air pollution.
Had they used explosives...noise pollution, air pollution and probably still some runoff.
Anchor the hillside with concrete and steel....still have runoff issues.
