Ya, I guess hiring only smokers would not matter at all..... as it could not even get that far.

However, having said that, I don't think you can hire smokers only,or girls only, or whites only, etc..... I think that point is pretty obvious. Sometimes reality is what is and you just have to suck it up. Countries all around the world are or have banned smoking in certain areas. That is way it is. Sorry Smokers.

but I do agree with FemmeFatale that a smoke lounge will never fly legally in Ontario or Canada for that matter. I cannot speak for our friends across the border.

As far as here goes

You can open a Cigar Bar and allow smoking as well as drinks but you are not allowed to serve food.
Not easy to get a permit for but you can.

If you think about it in reference to Canada and our health costs. It really is about the money, remember OHIP covers most of one's medical expenses. If more people are working in a smoking environment naturally health costs go up. If Obama Care goes into effect don't be surprised if smoking laws toughen up even more on your side of the border.

So what you are saying is in effect I can refuse to hire fat people and women of child baring age because it will increase the health costs??

Well said, you make many good points although being a proud Conservative Canadian I'm happy we do receive Universal Health Care but it should come with some restrictions to help reduce it's over all costs. i.e. going to the hospital when one can just as easily go to a walk in clinic, smoking, excessive weight etc......
