Ohio man sentenced to 22 years in prison after Toronto dad investigates suspicious messages | CP24.com

A local dad’s careful oversight of his young daughter’s online activity has led to the conviction of an Ohio man on child exploitation charges.
The United States’ Attorney’s Office sent out a news release Monday confirming Nicholas B. Bowers was sentenced to 22 years in prison after court heard about how he tried to lure a 12-year-old Toronto girl into sexual activity.
It was almost a year ago that the girl’s dad, Cliff Ford, noticed unusual messages from a man to his daughter’s online accounts.
Ford took over his daughter’s social media accounts and started communicating with the stranger to try and find out who he was, where he lived and what his intentions were.
“Within 3 days I had a gift wrapped package for the police,” Ford said in a Facebook post detailing the episode.
