[h=1]Manassas officer hit by car remains hospitalized[/h]

Manassas police Officer Heather Munsterman remains hospitalized after being struck by a car on Va. 28 on Saturday.
City police say she suffered a concussion, dislocated shoulder, severe bruising over her “entire body” and fractures to her ankle and pelvic area after she was hit near Phoenix Drive around 9 a.m.
Witnesses said the officer had stopped a car near the IHOP and, as she spoke to the driver, a black Ford "swerved off the road and struck both her and the stationary vehicle," city police spokeswoman Adrienne Helms said.
Alexander Bacon, 25, of Herndon, was charged with texting while driving, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license and failure to yield right of way by lane change lane to an emergency vehicle.
Police said Munsterman is hopeful she will be released from the hospital to a rehabilitation center on Monday.
“While she has a very long and painful road to recovery with the injuries she sustained, she is in good spirits considering what she has been through,” police said in a news release.
Her family, and the department, say they appreciate the many flowers and balloons that have been sent.
From now on, though, Munsterman says she’d rather people send “get well” cards only.
“In her words, ‘There are people in much worse shape than I that do not have anyone asking about them,’” police said in the news release.
Her doctors have also requested limited visitors so she can rest and recuperate.
Police said their department and Munsterman’s family are grateful for the “many phone calls, emails, cards and general concerns.”
Police said they will continue to provide weekly updates on Munsterman’s recovery.

She must be a wonderful woman.

“In her words, ‘There are people in much worse shape than I that do not have anyone asking about them,’”

Should be the same penalty as drinking and driving. Studies have shown it to be just as dangerous.

Hope she recovers well.

I used to raise pet peeves

one day I just stopped feeding them and they died.

Sales People are notorious at texting and driving, especially the ones that spend most of their day in their car driving from client to client.
