Winter is here and we all like (well most of us) to keep our cars clean (just like how we like our ladies) . The salt makes the car looks disgusting (like STDs) and so some of us Canadians go ahead and make us of Petro Canada's Season pass.

I have been a regular over the past few years, and have found their car wash to be the best, compared to Esso, Shell etc. The "Glide" wash at select locations across the GTA is the best.

I am however quite disappointed to learn that they have continued increasing the prices every year.

In 2007, i purchased it for 149,
In 2008, I purchased it for 159,
In 2009, I purhcased it for 179,
in 2010, those bastards want 189.

I know its only 10 $, and seeing how we spend thousands of dollar in this hobby, 10 $ is really nothing. However, what do you all have to say ?

189 $ for 90 days, (is quite the deal) for a perfect clean car for 90 days.

What is your say ? Is Petro doing the right thing by increasing the price?

It's still worth it, if:

- you live close to a Glide station
- have at least two cars

Like the hobby, the provider is simply charging what the market will bear.

We had two cars but now just have 1. I still use it though, or used to last year. Not quite sure this year. It does come down to 2.1 $ per wash, where as the car wash itselft costs 12.95 $.

Quite the deal I agree. But I hate it when they increase the price.

You'd wash your car almost every day???

Damn, I hope you're using Glide or touchless. Even still, that's tough on your paint.

Yes I would wash it everyday. Maybe 6 times a week. 1 day or 2 days , would wash a friend's car or neighbours car.

Glide , is the name of Petro's car wash. Glide offers both touchless and Cloth. I would use cloth when the car is dirty and touchless when not. The cloth doesnt scratch the car at all, its pretty good.

I would rather wash the car everyday than leave mud or salt on it. Salt rusts cars and im sure the paint too, and mud can also make the paint lose its shine .. So a clean car better than a dirty one :)

Wanna bet? I used the Glide at Kennedy and hwy 7 last winter. Same as you - cloth if dirty, touchless if relatively clean. Definitely noticeable on my darker car; not so much on my light colour ride. Microswirls are not easy to see on light colour cars. But, they're are there. You'll notice it over time as a dulling of paint.

Generally, I would agree that a clean car is better than a salt-encrusted rust magnet. But, the detergents used are pretty harsh. They'll dry out your paint/clear in a hurry.

I put on three coats of winter wax in the fall, and then go through touchless once a week. I'll also do a corrective polish once a year in the spring to bring back the shine.

No I dont want to bet. I believe you. It can happen.

What wax do you put ? How often and how do you apply it? Please let me know. I like to take care of my baby and would appreciate it if you can tell me about the wax polish info.
Thanks

Collinite 476s or 845. Stuff is amazing. Lasts a good three months on my cars in the winter, parked outside.

In the summer, I use Pinnacle Souveran on the dark car and P21S on the light car.

I polish with Einszett Intensive Paste and a Porter Cable random orbital buffer with Lake Country pads.

I get most of my stuff from www.eshine.ca
