An estimated 870,619 litres of crude oil spilled into floodwaters in the northwestern corner of Iowa following a train derailment, a railroad official said Saturday.
BNSF spokesman Andy Williams said 14 of 32 oil tanker cars just south of Doon in Lyon County leaked oil into surrounding floodwaters from the swollen Little Rock River. Williams had earlier said 33 oil cars had derailed.
Nearly half the spill — an estimated 378,530 litres — had been contained with booms near the derailment site and an additional boom placed approximately eight kilometres downstream, Williams said. Skimmers and vacuum trucks were being used to remove the oil. Crews will then use equipment to separate the oil from the water.
“In addition to focusing on the environmental recovery, ongoing monitoring is occurring for any potential conditions that could impact workers and the community and so far have found no levels of concern,” Williams said.
Officials still hadn’t determined the cause of Friday morning’s derailment, but a disaster proclamation issued by Gov. Kim Reynolds for Lyon and three other counties placed the blame on rain-fueled flooding. Reynolds visited the derailment site Saturday afternoon as part of a tour of areas hit by recent flooding.

Seems that Ontario is getting more murders, attacks and gang related shootings than ever before.

A man is dead and two other people are in hospital after a shooting outside a club downtown on Saturday evening.
It happened around 8 p.m. in front of the Cube nightclub at Queen and Peter streets.

Police said two men, one in his 20s, were taken to hospital in critical condition. One of them has died.
A woman in her 30s has serious injuries but is expected to survive.

Witnesses saw two suspects running north after the shooting. They may have fled in a black SUV or a white car.
Arshia Eskandarifar said he was talking to one of his employees outside his nearby store when the shooting happened.
“We heard the gunshots, and then I saw that people are running,” he said.

“I guess 11, 12 times I heard the gunshots … I looked at the other side of the street. I saw a man lying on the street … The other guy … he was covered in blood and he was asking for help.”

Eskandarifar said he used one of his shirts to apply pressure to the man’s wound.
“He was looking at me. He was saying that he doesn’t want to die,” Eskandarifar recalled. “He was closing his eyes so I just slapped him one or two times to keep him awake. I told him, ‘Dude, don’t die on me.'”

Two bystanders said they were eating at a nearby restaurant when they heard the gunfire.
“We were at Bar Hop there just on the patio and we heard probably at least 10 gunshots,” Jennifer Grott said. “We thought it was fireworks for Canada Day.

“We looked over and saw a lot of people running down Peter Street. Then we saw a black SUV, tinted windows, speed off. we saw a white Bentley stop and the guys look around for bullet holes.”

This is really not that complicated, if what you call "arsonists" in Greece ,were motivated by the hate of the west, or religiously motivated, then yes, that is terrorism.

The government of Greece initiated the use of that term, NOT me.

That is the goal. To terrorize during and after by causing as much death, distraction and shock value as posssible.

Setting fires because you like the burn is not the same as setting fire because you want to see people burn. It has to have the right intent.

Yes, obviously! One thing is a criminal activity. The other thing is a criminal activity with political implications. A government (especially a failing government like Greece's) can use terrorism as a basis to stir up support for its political agenda.
