Like the lyrics from the Broadway standard, a Naperville man may not regret what he did for love. But he’ll have a few days of government-supervised labor to think it over.
Zachary Ramirez, 21, pleaded guilty Thursday to reckless driving in DuPage County for going more than 100 miles per hour. He was rushing, he told police after his arrest, to go have sex with a woman friend.
He was ordered to spend five days in the sheriff’s work-alternative program, where he could be assigned tasks like roadside cleanup or washing and waxing municipal vehicles.
He was arrested about 2 a.m. April 21 by Naperville police, who clocked him at 111 miles per hour on Plainfield Naperville Road. He ran a stop sign and a red light, said police, who also charged Ramirez with marijuana possession after reportedly finding a small amount of the drug in his car.
In addition to the work program, Ramirez, who also pleaded guilty to marijuana possession, was placed on 18 months of court supervision and ordered to submit to random drug testing.
