UHmmm only in Canada......what is next? Province will be fined for not giving softer toliet tissue paper....

MONTREAL - Quebec's human rights commission fined the province's public security ministry $10,000 for not reasonably accommodating a morbidly obese detainee who weighed 430 pounds.
The human rights commission also ordered the security ministry to renovate two of its detention centres to accommodate overweight prisoners.
Michel "Big Mike" Lapointe, 41, was arrested in September 2006 for conspiracy, drug trafficking and trafficking for the profit of a criminal organization.
Big Mike complained to the commission in 2008 that he was not given the "necessary accommodations" for his handicap. The commission unanimously ruled last month that Big Mike was right.
Lapointe weighed 375 pounds when he entered the detention centre and 430 pounds when he was released more than two years later. Big Mike complained to the commission that his body exceeded his bed by six inches on either side. He also complained that his health deteriorated while he was detained as the hospital equipment was not adapted for his weight.
The commission ruled last month that the province's security ministry must pay Big Mike $10,000 - $7,000 for moral damages and $3,000 as a punitive measure. The commission also ruled that the ministry must renovate "several cells" to accommodate people with handicaps, including those who are morbidly obese.
Quebec's public security ministry has until Oct. 12 to comply with the commission's ruling or it can appeal the decision in court. A spokesperson from the ministry told QMI Agency Friday that it had not yet made a decision.

Nice to see that Quebec has to start accommodating a bloated fat piece of shit.
Like the rest of Canada has.

What shocked me the most is that it was ruled unanimously in his favor.

that shocks you? holy fuck...this country is going down the tubes.....ffs

I used to know an Italian guy who was super obese and he was on a disability pension because he was so fat.
They do that in Italy. Let you eat your way to special treatment.

That is so fuckn wrong but there isn't much we can do. Democracy does have many flaws.

this has nothing to do with deomocracy, this has everything to do with people in positions who have no sense of right and wrong.......

As for much we can do, we have the power, but many don't realize that.....because they are too afraid to lose what they have, lose their job, whatever.

We "common folk" could take back this country in a heart beat......we outnumber the police and armed forces 1000 to 1, we wouldn't even have to fire a shot.

As people live in progressively higher and higher densities a laissez-faire attitude develops. We get too tied up in the minutia of our existence that we forget the big picture. Too many are worried about freedom from debt than freedom and liberty and hope that someone else steps up to the plate for them.

I'll do it after the Chinese do it.

you know, I'm so fed up with the have's having so much more than the have nots, and big business (like oil) raping us at every turn and politician's without a brain in their body that one day you'll see me up on a podium in front of a crowd advocating civil revolution.....

I'm currently compiling ideas for a mainfesto of sorts and two of the main topics will be:
shutting down banking in canada.....to do this all we have to do is withdraw our money all on the same day....the banks will be forced to shut their doors because they don't have the cash reserves on hand to even give back 20% of our deposits.

a day of strike...everyone....not just union employees...everyone call in sick for one day. Don't buy gas, don't buy food, don't leave the house. In one day big oil will have so much gas left in their tanks that they will have to reduce the price else be stuck holding the large overhead.....

People already are starting....look at the last election...what was it.....42% of eligible voters voted? The news said it was us being lazy...it wasn't...it was people fed up with voting for parties that promise the world and deliver nothing...in fact...we're tired of politicians doing the exact opposite of what they promised.....
