I'm from the era. Saw every Queen concert ever in "air conditioned" Cobo Arena in Detroit.
Saw the Who, BTO, AC/DC, Kiss, and a whole bunch of others including the early U2.
But Yea. Queen - IMHO Best band of all time.
But, as in the measuring of best bands, dick size, breast size, GFE, prettiness, BJexpeience etc
It's about your moment, your experience, and in the end, nothing really matters.
Except when you remember it you smile.

The BEatles were radical for the time, and set a trend for sure, but when you look at the number of their songs that actually stood the test of time compared to the number of songs they released, it's a very small percentage. Much less than Queen, Stones, AC/DC, etc.

Oh no, I disagree completely. The songs of Queen have not aged as well as the Beatles. The Stones and AC/DC, as good as they are, aren't even in the same league.

Having said that it's just a shame that we lost Freddie when we did. The heights they could have reached.

Saw both The Eagles and Supertamp and was totally blown away. Both super groups but not quite upper echelon if you ask me.

Growing up I would listen to Boston and The Cars for hours. God I miss those days.

Queen lost me when "The Game" came out in 1980, loved all their previous albums. It's when they gave in and started using synthesizers.
I'll agree with Bolt and say the Beatles stand the test of time and are hands down the best band, cranking out dozens of classics in a short period.

Queen had reached all the heights they were ever going to reach at the time of Freddie's death. "Jazz", in 1978 was the last album that most fans would consider to be among their best, with the hits "Bicycle Race", "Fat Bottomed Girls" and "Don't Stop Me Now". That was followed by a live album and then "The Game" which, as Jasper pointed out, included synthesizers for the first time and turned many fans away. Their last US hits were on the album "The Works" in 1984 and those aren't even played by radio much these days ("Radio Gaga", "I Want To Break Free"). They were still reasonably popular at Live Aid in 1985 but there were no more North American hits for them. Freddie died in 1991, ten years after "A Crazy Little Thing Called Love".

Jimmy Page, the Led Zeppelin guitarist who turned 71 last week, is reportedly dating 25-year-old actress Scarlett Sabet.

As radio station Q107 puts into context below, Page's daughter (also named Scarlet) is 43, which is 18 years older than his new girlfriend.

Jimmy Page has a history of dating much younger women, from his most recent ex-wife Jimena Gomez-Paratcha right back to the early led Zeppelin days. Rolling Stone reports that in the early '70s Page dated a 14-year-old, Lori Maddox.
