I know this has been discussed. But I'm going to tell you a story that wreaks of the same type of thing I run in to on a daily basis and makes me think NO, you don't deserve to make more because you're an absolute fucking idiot.
Story time boys and girls.
I was helping one of my lady friends move some belongings and I asked if she was hungry so we stopped at a Tim Hortons before we headed out on the highway back home. She ordered a sandwich with no bacon and I ordered a bagel toasted with cream cheese. We got our drinks and waited for our food. We both observed the young fella starting to make our food but he kept walking away and going in to the back. About 5 minutes of and the girl who took our order is seeing that I'm getting irritated and so is my lady friend. I'm saying loud enough for the girl to hear "What the fuck is that kid doing?" several times. She refused to make eye contact with me and avoided it at all costs. Somebody who was also waiting for their food also commented to us that the service is terrible and it doesn't seem to matter who is behind the counter.
I finally had enough at the 10 minute mark and interjected with the customer who was placing her order and asked the employee "Is there a problem with making our food? He's walked away from that sandwich at least a dozen times to go in the back and I don't even see a bagel yet." . She turns the young fella and asks him what's going on. The young fella replies, "Oh, I'm waiting for bacon." Facepalm. The girl says "Umm, the order says no bacon.". "Oh". Me - "Are you fucking kidding me? We've been sitting her for ten fucking minutes because you can't fucking read? REALLY? For fuck sake kid, I think you need to quit this job and go back to school and learn how to read so you can earn more than minimum wage.". He was speechless. The cashier girl was speechless. The lady who was giving her order whom I interrupted, was speechless. The girl who shared on our disdain for the long wait time was trying to hold back from laughing.
"Get the fuck over there, and finish making our food so we can get the fuck out of here." He wrapped up the food and handed us the bags. When we left and started unwrapping the food in the truck, he gave us the other girls order as well as ours. I was already fed up and on the on ramp and headed back home or I would've turned around, handed the girl her order and gave the employees another piece of my mind.
So raise the minimum wage? Fuck no. Not for morons like this. Those who are more intelligent, will find a way out of survival jobs. Those who are and will be stuck at minimum wage jobs, need to adjust and or make themselves better. I'm sorry, if you want $15.00 per hour, you better get my fucking order right...the first time.
