So I was listening to the radio this morning and the announcer was discussing if Remembrance day should become a civic holiday?
It made me wonder, currently we treat this day with respect even if its only for most of us a moment of silent reflection . If it became a stat day off, would it diminish its meaning as it became just another day we don't need to show up for work and the kids can stay home to play call of duty or would that serve to enrich its significance?
I'm leaning toward the diminish, as at least now the kids participate willingly or not in ceremonies until they mature to a point where hopefully they can grasp the days significance?
Any thoughts?
