Simple Question:

In cases of a first degree murder conviction, would you support the re-institution of the death penalty in Canada.

I support the death penalty and I also support a shorter appeal process, in the states some of these people cam be on death row for 20 to 25 years
The death penalty isn't a deterrent any hard core criminal will tell you that. But keeping these people alive is just a drain on resources.

I am not only in favour of it I think the executions should be broadcast on television.
Set up a law channel and let these ass wipes see what is waiting for them.
Then we will see if it is a deterrent or not!!!

If something is not done to correct our justice system soon I think your going hear a lot more of vigilantly justice

I support the death penalty, if the case has hard evidence. (Look up the innocence project, very interesting). However between appeals, and states not being able to secure drugs for lethal injection (many have outlawed other execution methods) some death row prisoners in the US will never face the death chamber. I also support cameras in the courtroom, for trial as well as appeals and can see the benefit of executions also being recorded even if these things were not broadcast live.

Another good documentary about the dp is "there will be no stay". Just watched it last week.

I thought about this also before casting my vote, but I think there is a small number of wrongful sentences in OUR judicial system but it could be that we just have fewer murder cases than that of the US or other high crime countries. I trust our judicial system, if anything, it would make both sides work a little harder to either acquit or convict.
