Here I was thinking they were not that smart.

Was this rigged?. He could've gone straight to the nut bowl pole.

No?.

That was the first thing I thought when the video finished too. Regardless, that squirrel was awesome!

Especially when it paused and checked out the 'spinning logs' obstacle, and then flew across them!

I'd have to say that it could be done with a wild squirrel. What you would do is get him used to going to the plate for nuts.

Then add one obstacle.

Then add another..

and so on and so on until you get the video.

Like the chipmunk that lives under my deck. I saw him on top one day so I put out some peanuts where he ran. He found them and stuffed some in his cheeks.

Then I put out some in the same spot, he came back.

Then I put them closer to my patio door and closer until it was right at the door.

Then when he was coming up to the door, I held a peanut out between my fingers with my hand between the door and the jamb, he took it. Then after a few, I put some in the palm of my hand and he eventually climbed in to get the peanuts.

Just a matter of getting them used to doing things.

I might just try this, I have some 2" pvc pipe. I'll put the nuts at the end of it, then tilt it up, then put a dowel across 2 2 x 4s and see what happens.....
