tboy said:I dunno, it's simple triage.....you assess the injury, and put it with all others in order of....danger?.....then treat as needed.
If he was in serious danger they would have operated immediately if they had room in the schedule.
I know when I got a grinder to the face I went to the er and because it was a head injury they took me right away as opposed to the other guy who had a cut finger (bleeding had stopped) and someone with a sore shoulder......
I know I've cut myself before that needed stitches and called around the various hospitals until I found one that wasn't busy...one time they were all busy so I called around to clinics who could perform knitting.....
BTW: I got a shard of glass stuck in my arm one time, it was about 6" long and simply pulled it out and went back to work....kept an eye on it for infection but other than that? put some tape across the opening and whoop there you go.
About a month ago I got a splinter about 2" long stuck in my hand and it went through a callus....when I tried to pull it out the skin just pulled with it...I borrowed a buddy's needlenose pliers and janked it out....put some alcohol on it and, you guessed it, went back to work......
Not a big huge deal if you ask me
