I don't understand why it would damage their reputation. Good or bad reviews makes clients want to check it out to make their own judgement call.

No matter the business, if reviewing is allowed, then there will be some jealous, devious, disgruntled or simply bored arseholes that will want to tarnish the businesses reputation for no good reason.
