Made with Love

Should a woman pay her share during the first date?.

Don't they want to be treated as equal?. Well then yes dammit.

Hmm, I didn't expect the guy to make so much sense.

For me, this is a hard question to answer. I didn't date very much when I was younger. In highschool, I always insisted on paying, and when my girlfriend offered a couple of times, that felt great because I knew I made more money than her with my 3 part time jobs than she did with her 1.

As an adult, hmmm let me give this some thought....

I guess it would depend on the circumstances of the first date, and how it came to be. If I asked the girl out, and I have a real interest in her, I would offer to pay. And if she offers to pay some or all, or pay for something else during the date, then to me, that is a sign that she is interested in me. I don't like brash up front conversations about money. If I wanted that, I'd go see a SP. But, if I were truly interested in a girl, me offering to pay is a little bit of a test. I want to see how the girl reacts, and if she offers to pay at some other point of the date, or even asks me out next time. If she acts as if its her right to be treated, then I wouldn't ask her for a second date. To me, it's a small investment to see if a girl is worth asking out on a second date. Yes, it may sound a bit unfair because I have these unspoken expectations, but if you talk about these things up front, then of course everyone will be on their best behaviour and you won't get to see their natural reactions.

If a women pays for herself on a first date, I respect her tremendously.

Most women are takers, so most women want a guy to pay for dinner - free meal.

I didn't listen , however I like chivalrous men, so no, the man should pay. He should also pull out her chair, open the door, etc. Being a gentleman, a chivalrous gentleman, goes a long way. Equality has nothing to do with chivalry, manners or traditions. But that is just how I see it, right or wrong:)

All depends how she approaches our first date. You pretty much can tell if she is into you or not. Even so most women expect us to pay for the first date, just part of our culture.

If a guy asks me out on a first date, I'd expect him to pay.

If I invite a guy out on a first date, I would pay and refuse to let him contribute.

If you want to go 'dutch', you should communicate that expectation.

Would anyone seriously say, "I'd love to go out for dinner with you, but I want you to pay." How is that romantic?

If she offers to pay half or all, I politely thank her but decline. If she doesn't offer on the first dinner, then I'm OK with it, but if subsequent dinners go by without an offer, that's a problem for me.

I didn't watch either. Did he bring up that a guy who pays may have certain "expectations" for the end of the date?

lol, yup, that about covers it:)

It is all about choices. Stop with the ridiculous expectations. Who gives you the right to expect others to do things for you. If I ask someone out, I would definitely pay. If you and a friend/date are hanging out often, dutch is the best approach and of course there are times a person would pay for the full tab because he wants to. It is all about choices. Impose expectations on me, get a grip.

Read this one and be careful out there.

Prematurely buying a girl a drink at the bar is the number two killer of hookups, behind telling said woman that you are a registered sex offender. The only thing you achieve by funding a girl’s night without knowing her last name is letting her know you’re thirstier than a dog in heat. And once you show your cards too early, you lose your power, your mystique, and once she knows she can have you, you run the risk of jerking off into her bar napkin later that night.

Take it from me, the 29-year-old single dude whose dick is dustier than Michael Cera’s bowflex machine.
But if you’re going to go down the road of buying drinks for a prospective hookup, then you cannot go in reverse. Under any circumstances. You made your bed, now you have to sleep in it. Alone. And that’s the mistake this Alabama dude named Kris made after buying Emily a $5 drink at a bar in downtown Tuscaloosa and demanding the money back after he witnessed her leave with another guy.

The second mistake he made was taking a picture with her so she could eventually blast him on social media so his antics would go viral.

Emily posted the below story on the Alabama Student Ticket Exchange Facebook page, where things spiraled from there.
