Ok, so here's what happens:

I have a yahoo email account which I access via outlook 2002 (why upgrade when it works fine?).

3 times in the past month, a shitload of emails are sent to all my contacts with a link to a porn site from my email address.

The emails do not appear in my outlook "sent" file.
The emails do not appear in my online yahoo mail sent file.

I've run a thorough virus scan first with avg and then with Bell's and pfft nothing.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

(ps: I did a little search online and it said my email might have been hacked. Though if it had, wouldn't the sent emails be in my sent folder? Unless the hacker erased them after being sent but I can't see that happening...).

Try some different anti-virus scanners. Most of them will give you a 30 day free trial and at least eliminate the worm that has invaded your system. I would try Kaspersky and Avast first. I have had worms that Norton's and the providers scans missed but Kaspersky found.

Add Malwarebytes to that list.

Download this one https://www.malwarebytes.org/ (free version will do fine), install it and run it in full scan. It will remove any trojan/Spyware and/or any registry entries you might have.

After that change your email account password. Make it something like, exp: T65rws98Eb95GH

Thanks for the link, Blacknite... I installed it and found 58 adware things.

Of course, its my own fault, I have been using torrent a lot!

Thanks

Your welcome. Full version has realtime sheild too.

For torrent i suggest you use isohunt. You can find almost anything and they have pretty good protection against viruses/trojans/spywares and for torrent software I use utorrent.

Yeah Black, I found one registry item. Not sure if it was the culprit or not, we shall see. The funny thing about the whole situation was it only happened like once a week......

Everyone was harping on avg and that was what I was running when I got this "bug". I was also running ad aware too......

Eset Nod32 and Avast pro are best antivirus softwares out there. AVG sucks big time.

Is there a big difference between the free version or if you pay for it?.

of course. If there isnt any difference they can't sell it right? :)

Well, I was running AVG and unless I'm mistaken, that's avast (isn't it?) and I got that malware email thing......I was using the free one even though it was supposed to protect against that sort of thing...

you prob have a bug or something running in the background.

scan your computer clear up its virus , adware, maleware change your password for the email. if it still happends i would suggest reformating your system

edit

dont forget to update you windows as much as you can . what operating system do you have?
