Thanks to government stupidity, mass murderer Ancel Keyes, and food industry propaganda, butter has been vilified unfairly. Still many medical doctors will tell you that it is at the root of all evil in terms of being a cause of obesity, dyslipidemia and even cancer. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Butter does not cause disease, it actually protects us from it. For example, a Medical Research Council survey showed that men eating butter had half the risk of developing heart disease than their margarine eating counterparts.

Butter is our friend, and here six top reasons why.

1. Source of butyric acid. Butyric acid is a short-chain fatty acid that feeds the good bacteria in the gut. It is in fact the main fuel of the colonic cells. When people go on very low fat diet, like physique contests, their gut bacteria develops dysbiosis because of lack of butyric acid. Low levels of butyric acid has been linked to ulcerative colitis, colon cancer, active colitis, and inflammatory bowel syndrome. Butyric acid has also been shown to be cancer preventative.

2. Source of palmitoleic acid: This is a monosaturated fat which insures healthy cell communication, and has strong antimicrobial properties that protects us against infection. It also has strong anti-fungal properties.

3. Goiter preventer. How do people living in mountainous regions get their iodine? Butter! Without sufficient iodine in the mother’s diet, a baby cognitive development is impaired.

4. High selenium content in butter. Selenium is a trace mineral with strong anti-oxidant properties. It is critical for optimal thyroid health and metabolism. Without sufficient selenium, your immune system is powerless. Butter has a selenium contents that exceeds the ones of wheat germ and herrings.

5. Butter is critical to adrenal and thyroid health Why? Because the form of vitamin A it contains is high bioavailable, therefore the body has a very easy time absorbing it.

6. Butter helps prevent osteoarthritis: Butter apparently contains an “anti-stiffness” factor a.k.a. Wulzen factor. According to Dutch scientist Wulzen, this nutrient is responsible for preventing the calcifications of joints, but also prevent hardening of the arteries, and cataracts. Pasteurization destroys this nutrient, therefore you should use raw butter to get its full benefits.

Butter has be quite maligned in the press since the avalanche of negative propaganda from the margarine industry started many years ago.

But health wise there is no comparison. Organic butter wins every time.

Maurice,

Just called the family to throw out the margarine from our fridge.

I only use a little dab of butter on my whole grain toast. I've never been able to stomach the taste of margarine.

Margarine is one molecule away from being plastic.

Stay far away from that shit. Butter FTW
