Suppose you were driving through a parking lot (not fast). You spot an attractive member of the opposite sex walking the other direction on the next row. You turn your head to get some eye candy and all of a sudden you hear a loud noise, you hit your brakes right away, and in front of you there's a bicycle on the ground and a kid lying next to it dead.
Witnesses come running over and they all say "He just rode right out in front of the car from between parked cars, the driver didn't have time to stop". You're not sure if you would have seen the kid or not, but all the witnesses are sure you couldn't have stopped in time to avoid hitting him.
When the police arrive and ask what happened, do you tell them you were looking at the eye candy when it happened, or do you leave that part out (knowing no one saw you not paying attention)?
