Sarnia-Lambton, hwy 402 are closed and a state of emergency has been declared. The Military have been called in to help evacuate those stranded on hwy 402. OPP have been bringing those stranded food and water.

That stretch of hwy 401 & 402 are dangerous at any time of year.

Weather will get worst? I havent checked the weather yet

Some people think just because they own a 4 wheel drive they can drive just as fast during this weather. Get the a-holes off the road.

Ummm what's that got to do with this thread?

If those stranded had 4 x 4's they probably wouldn't be stranded......

And, back on topic, I heard this morning on the radio that the OPP were using snowmobiles to rescue the drivers.......guess that wasn't working too well. Considering if you aren't dressed for snowmobiling and get on one it can kill you in under 3 minutes (the windchill is crazy at 30 mph).

Read more of the story: seems there were drifts 2 metres high around cars and the plows were bumping into them. Seems you can't tell where the road is it's so bad.....

I was watching it on the news this morning. Hope everything turns out okay

(Sarnia area)

I got stuck in that mess. A colleague and I were on our way to meetings in Michigan & Ohio. We were in our vehicle for over 30 hours before being taken to the arena in Strathroy where we stayed from 5:00PM on Tuesday to 4:00PM on Wednesday. It was a little scary and a lot inconvenient but through all that the experience showed that these kind of situations can bring out the best in people. My fellow travelers accepted the situation with grace and good humour. The volunteers and the newly elected mayor of Strathroy we absolutely wonderful and could not do enough for us.
Yes, it was an inconvenience for sure but it provided a glimpse of people at their very best. MM
