Team Canada 2014 Olympic Recap Thread.

In Men's Hockey the quarter finals are set.

Sweden vs. Slovenia

USA vs. Czech Rep.

Can vs. Latvia

Finland vs. Russia

Should be a cake walk for Canada and Sweden but upsets can happen. Latvia upset the Swiss. Slovenia upsets Slovakia, the Swiss upsets the Czech in the round robin.

Would hit! Nice GND look!

Just re-watching the Czech vs. Slovakia game and Chara looks ordinary, slow and useless. WOW! I guess he doesn't have his Boston team mates to make him look good.

Great on another medal! Good job Riddle me this!:YMAPPLAUSE:

I really dislike that it's so far ahead/behind the time zones because I heard we had several speed skaters fall or not qualify but I can't find the information. Charles Hamelin was one of them. This sucks because these are strong events for Canada and we're not owning the podium. I also dislike that so much pressure is being put on athletes to win and not just enjoy competing. Let's face it, when it really comes down to it, all sports there are 6 really good competitors and the rest are time slot fillers but I still like watching them beat their personal bests or conquer their demons of injury, falling, not qualifying.

I have seen some blunders by the CBC announcers/hosts but it's not intentional, some of the problems are that there just aren't enough people that know about all of these sports and the new sports.

With the ice-skating, there's always gossip after the judging/voting. I don't know enough about ice-dance to make a sound judgement but what I do know is that our kids Tessa/Scott are great dancers and if it were based on looks we would have won gold because that American chick was FUGLY! No offence meant to any Americans but she was just not attractive facially. Rant over on that, I was trying to match Sid Sexiero's rant! LOL.

Silver Medallists 3000 metres

China was disqualified because they didn't leave the ice quickly enough after tagging out! Cheating bastards!

HOF, in regards to figure skating dance pairs, this sport is a judged sport and has it's share of corruption among the judges, take 2002 Olympics for example. Do you remember the French judge being biased towards Jamie Sale and Canada was reward the gold medal after? Well since then the judges have it in for Canada. Add to the fact that Scott Moir had made controversial comments towards the judges over the past 4 years has compounded the problems. So no surprises that the judges gave the gold to Americans. I know this because a family member who was a former Olympian in figure skating knows all the politics involved in the sport.

Also, both the American and Canadian pairs are coached by the same coach and there performances were both flawless that judges could easily pick anyone to win but they liked the Americans because Scott Moir could not keep his mouth shut.

Unlike the NHL a player would be fined and suspended for making such comments about referees. The refs just continue to ref a NHL game without bias. But not so in figure skating. Figure skating judges are like a secret fraternity and can be vindictive assholes and bitches which why I don't care for the sport of figure skating.

Trust me I understand the politics and psychology of sport, it's what I studied in university. It's just bothersome that in this day and age, after all that we have supposedly learned from the past 20-30 years of judging ice-skaters that this nonsense is still happening. There simply has to be a better way because it's too subjective sadly.

I agree that our Canadians should have kept their mouths shut on the coaching situation because they could have changed coaches many years ago. I blame Scott & Tessa for not being more proactive for themselves in that one. It would be somewhat different if the coach was coaching 2/3 Canadian pairs at least that is within the same country but cross coaching of countries obviously led to some poisoning of the athletes. Scott Moir, you won the silver medal-stand up, be proud-don't belittle your coach because of something that you could have changed that makes everyone and the sport look bad.

I do wonder if the ice skating federation or Canadian ice skating federation could have said something like pick a team to coach but you can't coach both or get paid to coach both.

I think that they're all to blame and that the coach was just greedy.

BTW, Jaime Sale is hot!

Getting wood.

17 medals so far. We are off target for 30 medals. We still have a shot to match 2010 Vancouver of 24 medals. We have at least a silver in Women's hockey, perhaps another from the Men's. Also, a shot at a medal from women's 2 person bobsled and 4 man bobsled. A few more from short track and long track speed skating maybe??? We may get some medals from ski cross too. Possible medal in snowboarding with Jasey-Jay Anderson. Medals in curling most likely too. Does sledge hockey count? LOL.

Carey Price AKA Scarey Price worries me when it comes to the big game. He tends to choke under pressure. I think he will be fine against Latvia but I would put Bobby Lou in for the Americans. Loungo has the experience in clutch situations and he did it to the Americans 4 years ago. Sorry HOF just my POV.

Kaetlyn Osmond figure skating, has no chance to win a medal but she is kind of hot.

It will be Sweden vs. Finland in the Semis as the Fins beat Russia. Why did the Leafs let Leo Komorov go, he was outstanding against the Russians. In women's curling Canada will get at least a silver as they advance to the finals.

1-1 in the second vs Latvia :SayWhat?:

Men's curling going for the gold as they beat China in the semis.
