McDavid’s first-period goal stood as the winner as Canada successfully defended its world championship with a 2-0 win over Finland in the tournament final on Sunday.
The 19-year-old Edmonton Oilers centre had collected eight assists in the first nine games of the tournament, but was one of just two Canadian forwards not to have recorded a goal heading into the gold-medal game


Matt Duchene added an empty-net goal with one second left on the clock to seal the win.

Max Talbot made 16 saves for his tournament-leading fourth shutout.

If you want to focus on Hockey and not on Healthcare, don't you think you should lose the right - as a voter - to tell me how I can access my own healthcare?

You see, you watch hockey and celebrate and think us winning a championship is great. I focus on my dead Aunt who was refused cancer treatment by being put on a waiting list. I don't think - since you don't focus on healthcare - that you should have the right to restrict my access to care.

My uncle was in a long waiting list for a liver transplant. He died before we could come up with the money to transfer him to a US clinic. I don't blame healthcare because it has restrictions on what you have access to.

I had to wait 4 months for a hernia surgery. Did I bitch and complain, no. Because that is how this country works. It's free for medical diagnosis and surgeries, it just takes time.

You pay for it or you wait. Some live some die waiting for help. But it is not a given choice. The taxes we pay doesn't cover 1/100th of the medical plans you so bluntly criticize.

Stop insulting my country.
