Technical glitch?

I selected "Linear first" in the thread display mode, as I like to view the most recent posts first. For some reason even when I save my settings it still hasn't altered anything and I am still seeing the oldest posts in the thread first. Is this a glitch? Does it not apply to group pages? Any ideas anyone?

Also, every so often I am blocked out of the group, and I get an error message saying I don't have access. Don't know what that's all about? Does anyone else get this? Any ideas?

Yeah, I don't think it applies to these simple groups. The local sys admins don't put too much time into fixing the private groups either. I am the mod in this group, but I don't have a lot of tools to fix anything here, other than delete messages. We're all in the same boat.

Sixto, not sure if you're aware but if you click on the "green down arrow" on any thread it will bring you to the posts that you haven't yet read in the thread. Nearly as good as having the newest posts first :)

I didn't know about that; that helps! Thanks.

Also when you're in the thread list and see one that's in bold that you haven't read yet, you can go the right of that thread title, where it gives the date and time, and there's a small double arrow pointing right, just click on it and it takes you to the last post. That way you don't have to first open the thread and then click on the "Last" button. When you're done go the top of the page by the URL, and click the left arrow and you'll be back at the beginning of the latest thread list.

Thanks BR. I guess the search tool is not working?

It doesn't work in these private groups, just in the main forums. There's no intention by the site owners to find a fix for that, as they would rather that we post in the public forums, to drive traffic. But of course if we go to a public forum, then we the same problems that we would have at Terb or Cerb, people who we don't want reading it, will be able to read it.

If you want to do a search, you'll have to do it with your browser's find function, and searching out the subject titles, page by page on this group.

That reminds me, guys, we've now got 40 pages worth of topics on this group. I really think we need to trim it down, any objections? I'm thinking of halving the topics, oldest ones first.
