Do I hear a coup coming?.

Actually, the coup came five years ago, throwing the country into chaos.

She didn't win the election because she's a babe. She won because the party she represents also represents her brother, the prime minister who was deposed in that military coup. ()

He's been living in Dubai ever since, probably very comfortably at that.

The real question is whether she's a puppet for her brother, or a leader in her own right. Although there's bound to be family and philosophic connections, my take is the latter. More power to her. It will be fascinating to watch her grow in her new role.

I sometimes think this world would be a far better place if all political and military leaders were women. Maybe instead of wars, we'd just have international hissy-fits about the quality of hair and nail salons.

And a whole hell of a lot more concern about sending our sons and daughters off to needless slaughter in senseless battles.
